From Czechia to Algeria: Furnishing a New Military Hospital

The largest contract in the company’s history is nearing completion after extensive preparations and negotiations. The project involves the complete furnishing of medical and laboratory furniture for a new military hospital in Algeria, located near the country’s capital city. The investor behind the project is the Algerian Ministry of National Defence.

"This is a complete interior solution that includes the supply of medical and laboratory furniture. Fifteen members of our team are working on the installation on an ongoing basis. The project requires not only professional expertise but also the ability to understand a specific environment and collaborate effectively with local workers, who are trained for responsible on-site handling and assembly," says project manager Jaroslav Jirák, adding that detailed information about the project is limited due to confidentiality agreements with the client.

Valued in the high tens of millions of CZK, the contract was preceded by more than a year of negotiations. The project is especially demanding from a logistics standpoint. Transportation to the site has been one of the most complex challenges ever handled by the Humpolec-based company with over 30 years of experience. Over sixteen shipping containers prepared at the company’s own facilities have already been delivered to Algiers. More containers are en route or ready for dispatch. Given the local conditions and contractual commitments to the client, the project requires highly precise planning and coordination of logistics operations.

“This contract marks a significant milestone for our company. The logistical demands, scale, and scope of the project are unprecedented,” adds František Čermák, Chief Sales Officer at Profil Nábytek, noting that the project is expected to be completed in the first quarter of this year.

In the past 25 years, Profil Nábytek has carried out numerous major projects in the healthcare sector, both domestically and internationally (including in Ukraine), often utilizing its proprietary furniture line, Profil Healthcare Systems, which was developed in Humpolec specifically for this purpose. The hospital in Algiers is not the company’s first African experience. Profil furniture is also used in a hospital in Lusaka, Zambia. “We aim to fully leverage the extensive experience gained in Algeria. I believe it will lead to more large-scale, complex projects, not only across the African continent,” Čermák concludes.
